Worship Leader Wanted!

Frontier United Methodist Church has an opening for a paid, ¼ time worship leader to lead and grow our adult and student ministry worship.

Frontier is a theologically moderate, contemporary congregation located on the north side of Cheyenne. We have two identical worship services totaling about 140 in attendance, lead by a worship team and band, utilizing multimedia, in a casual atmosphere. Average age in our congregation is 45. Our "Prime Directive" is "to prepare people to be in mission with Jesus in all the places where we live, work, and play."

The successful candidate:
- can articulate and demonstrate their faith in Jesus Christ
- is a worship leader, not just a song leader
- has an above average voice
- can play guitar (preferred) and/or piano
- knows and demonstrates the difference between doing and equipping
- is dependable, well-organized and able to dedicate up to 10 hours per week as Worship Leader
- has prior experience in a worship band, though not necessarily as the leader
- can read music, transpose keys, and determine musical transitions
- is familiar with modern worship songs, artists, and resources (Vineyard, Integrity, Worshiptogether.com, Paul Baloche, Lincoln Brewster, etc.)
- is familiar and comfortable with relevant software, hardware, and sound systems
- is a team player who gets along with people


General Job Description
The Worship Leader is a quarter-time staff member, reporting to the Sr. Pastor. The Worship Leader recruits and trains youth and adult worship band participants, and leads the development, planning, and execution of worship events at Frontier UMC. Specifically the Worship Leader will;
- be the primary “lead worshipper” on Sunday mornings
- work with the senior and student pastor to choose appropriate music for adult and student worship
- maintain a schedule of musicians and vocalists for participation in adult and student worship
- schedule and lead rehearsal for both the adult and student worship bands
- develop musical and worship leaders from the adults and students
- discover new music and lead the worship teams and congregation in learning new songs
- prepare and work within the bounds of the budget
- train and schedule the sound and video techs
- maintain sound equipment
